LUCILLE FRIEDA KRAUS
East Amana

Lucille Frieda Kraus,

94, of East Amana, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Funeral service: 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at Middle Amana Community Church with Elder Jon Childers officiating. Visitation: from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, at the church. Burial: East Amana Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.

She is survived by a son, Perry Kraus (Lou Ann), Alpharetta, Ga.; a daughter, Elizabeth McKenzie (Charles), West Amana; three grandchildren, Lydia McKenzie (Tony), Kathleen Smith (Chris) and Katrina Harrison (Ryan); two great-grandchildren, Parker and Addison Smith; and two sisters-in-law, Isabella Schaefer and Helene Schuerer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer; a brother, Kenneth Schaefer; and a brother-in-law, Harold Schuerer.

Lucille Frieda Schaefer was born Sept. 1, 1921, in East Amana, Iowa, the daughter of Rudolf and Lydia Hertel Schaefer. She graduated from Amana High School in 1939 and was united in marriage to Elmer Kraus on July 19, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Lucille was a secretary at Amana Refrigeration and later co-owned the Little Amana Winery. She was a member of the Amana Church, the Amana Arts Guild, Amana Heritage Society and was a resident advocate at Colonial Manor for 20 years. Her greatest joys were butterflies, pansies and people, especially the children who were so fond of her. She loved Amana, her church and her family. News of a birthday, anniversary, illness or death, Lucille would immediately create a "fluff" cake and a beautiful pressed flower card. We will miss her, but rest in God's peace knowing she is with HIM.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Colonial Manor and Lakeside Village for the love and excellent care given to Lucille during her stay. In addition, the family wishes to thank friends and family members for all their support and love.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.klosterfuneralhome.com.
