Marilyn E. Brannian, age 66, of Amana, formerly of Brooklyn, died Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 12, 2015, Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn with Rev. Brent de Silva officiating. Burial will be in the Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery, Brooklyn. The family will receive friends after 10:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.

Marilyn is survived by cousins, including Laurel Seeley of Huntsville, MO, Roger Brannian (Deb) of Ankeny, and John Brannian (Anita) of Sioux Falls, SD.

She was preceded in death by her father Daryl Brannian in 1970, her mother Valda Connell in 2006, and a dear friend Ed Kline in 2006.

Marilyn Elaine Brannian was born July 21, 1949 in Grinnell, Iowa, the daughter of Daryl and Valda Fullerton Brannian. She was raised in the Brooklyn area and graduated from BGM High School with the Class of 1967. Marilyn attended Paris Academy of Beauty in Cedar Rapids, receiving her cosmetology license. She worked for several years in Grinnell fixing hair. She also worked at Brookhaven Nursing Home for 12 years as a nurses aide. She received training as an activity coordinator at DMACC and Kirkwood. While residing at Hillside Estates, Marilyn also took classes through Kirkwood. She had been a member of the Methodist Church in Grinnell. Most recently Marilyn lived at Lakeview Village in Amana, and enjoyed helping out at Colonial Manor, reading and interacting with the residents. She was always intrigued by the medical field and loved reading medical journals.
