Obituary for Russell Edward Fritz

Russell E. Fritz, 62, of Marengo, Iowa, lost his battle with cancer on Thursday, October 22, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Service: 11 a.m., Tuesday October 27, 2015, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Visitation: 5-8 p.m., Monday, October 26, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial: 2:30 p.m., Tuesday in Bishop Cemetery, Marengo, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Kathleen Fritz of Marengo, Iowa; children, Brian (Diana) Fritz of Marshalltown, Iowa and Jamie (Michelle) Fritz of Solon, Iowa; six grandchildren, Mariah, Maci, Brady, Cody, Cole and Emma.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Bill, Dick and Ron.

Russell was born on April 15, 1953, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, son of Robert W. and Helen M. (Brazauski) Fritz. He attended Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Russell married Kathleen Day on August 1, 1970 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He was a Journeyman plumber for 20 years for the Local 125 Plumbers and Pipefitters. Russell was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. He enjoyed hunting , fishing and watching sports events.
