Marcia Rowe, 56

Funeral Mass for Marcia K. Rowe, 56, beautiful wife, devoted mother and daughter and loyal sister, formerly of Williamsburg, was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at St. John the Evangelist Church, Seattle, Wash. She passed away peacefully Sept. 16, 2015.

Memorials may be sent to the Ivy Center at Swedish or the International Dyslexia Association.

Marcia Kay Rowe was born Oct. 23, 1958, in Williamsburg, the fifth of seven children of Helen [Hasley] and Oren Schwarting. She graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1977. She ventured west after high school and settled in Seattle.

She Married Jim Rowe Sept. 16, 1989, and had two daughters, Amelia, in 1992, and Fiona, in 1996.

At the age of 35, she resumed her education at the University of Washington and started work on her bachelor’s degree in speech pathology. She completed her degree in 1996 and immediately started working with students for speech therapy. She loved her interaction with students and continued to work until her diagnosis in October.

She was a fun-loving mom with a great sense of humor who loved to entertain and take care of people. She was very compassionate and she had a very strong sense of justice.

Rowe is survived by her beloved husband, Jim Rowe; two daughters, Amelia and Fiona; her mother, Helen; sisters, Sheila Marzano and Stephanie Diaz, and brothers, Greg, John, Brian and Jim.
