Funeral Mass for Mark A. Peska, 48, Marengo, was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Marengo. He died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2015, following a sudden illness.

The Rev. Joseph Roost officiated at the service.

Burial was in Marengo Cemetery.

Mark Albert Peska was born Oct. 7, 1966, in Marengo, the son of Delbert and Cynthia Albert Peska. He attended Iowa Valley of Marengo schools and later received his GED from Kirkwood.

He was the owner and operator of Peska Salvage, Marengo. He spent most of his time working on cars, whether it was for business or pleasure. He frequented swap meets and flea markets. He collected die cast cars and enjoyed constructing model cars. He enjoyed helping Mike and family with the demo derby cars.

He especially liked to spend his free time exploring Iowa with his family He had a sentimental side, a giving heart and was always surprising someone with a memento from one of his excursions. He always had his family and friends in his thoughts.

Peska is survived by his wife, Marina Peska, Moscow, Russia; his son, Marcus (Britani), Cabot, Ark.; a granddaughter, Isabella Davies, Cabot; his mother, Cynthia Peska, Marengo; a brother, Mike (Robin), Marengo; 13 nieces and nephews and his ex-wife and lifelong friend, Dawn Erger Peska, Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his father, Delbert; two daughters, Jillian and Justine, and two nephews, Christopher and Jared.
