Larry Joseph McArtor was born March 11, 1958, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Vaughn and Margaret (Adrian) McArtor. He graduated from Keota High School in 1976.

Larry was united in marriage to Brenda Frazier on August 20, 1983. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Jamie (Chris) Hall of North English, and Kylie McArtor of Des Moines.

Later they were blessed with a grandson Kaden Hall and a granddaughter Delaney Hall both of North English.

Larry has farmed all of his life, later working off the farm with his most recent job delivering LP for Farmers Coop in Keota for the last 14 years. Larry did not know a stranger. He was always kind and gentle to everyone. He could change anyone’s mood by just walking in with that wonderful smile on his face. He could turn anyone’s bad day into a better one. His sense of humor was amazing. Larry enjoyed NFL football all his life especially the Miami Dolphins. He enjoyed golfing, boating, biking, going to his grandchildren’s sporting events, and especially spending time with his family.

Larry passed away Saturday, September 12, 2015 in the comfort of his own home with his devoted, loving family around him. He was 57 years old.

Larry is survived by his wife Brenda, daughter Jamie and son-in-law Chris Hall, daughter Kylie McArtor, two grandchildren Kaden and Delaney Hall, a brother Tom, Steve McArtor/Armstrong of Mount Pleasant, his mother-in-law Virginia Frazier of South English, and many brother and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Alex Joseph McArtor, and his father-in-law Leo Frazier.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Holy Trinity Parish St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota. Rev Charles Fladung will officiate. Burial will be in the Holy Trinity Cemetery - Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery in rural Harper. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Monday, September 14, 2015 at Holy Trinity Parish St Mary Catholic Church in Keota where a wake service will be held at 4 PM. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.

After 11 ½ months of traveling to hospitals and waiting at appointments, we want to be able to help other families that are going through cancer as well. Some of the things we would like to provide are gas cards, visa cards for food, lodging, parking etc.

The Powell Funeral Home in Keota is caring for Larry and his family.
