Funeral service for Corey J. Yardley, 26, Victor, formerly of Marengo, was held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 23, at the Iowa Valley High School auditorium. He died Monday, July 20, 2015, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

The Rev. Matt German officiated at the service.

Burial was in the Marengo Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Special Olympics or the Marengo Recreation Commission in his honor.

Corey Jay Yardley was born Sept. 18, 1988, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Chad Dietze and Wendy Yardley. He graduated from Iowa Valley High School in 2007 and attended Kirkwood Community College for two years.

He enjoyed working with special needs people. He was a talented retail salesman. He was a coach and umpire for the MRC program in Marengo and had a passion for the Olympics. He was an avid Cubs, Hawkeyes and Bulls fan.

Yardley is survived by his mother and step-father, Wendy and Jamie Claeys, Victor; his brothers, Cullen Yardley, Victor, and Trent Claeys (Samantha Voy), Cedar Rapids; his sister, Kaela Claeys, Altoona; his grandparents, Ron and Audrey Yardley and Ron and Sherry Dietze, all Marengo, and David Claeys (Linda Kuba), Victor.

He was preceded in death by his father, Chad Dietze; his uncle, Tracy Dietze, and his grandmother, Linda Claeys.
