Eldon Pretz, 87

Funeral service for Eldon C. Pretz, 87, Cedar Rapids, was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Conroy. He died Monday evening, July 13, 2015, at his home following a sudden illness.

The Rev. Gary Sears officiated at the service.

Burial was in the Marengo Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established.

Eldon Clarence Pretz was born May 17, 1928, in rural Marengo, the son of Edwin and Martha Teggatz Pretz. He graduated from Marengo High School. He was the owner and operator of Eldon Pretz Pipe Organ Service for over 50 years. He also worked at the Wilson Packing Company for 32 years.

He married Arlene D. Bernards Sept. 3, 1949. The couple later divorced.

He married Lyn Veloso Oct. 5, 1999, in Crookston, Neb.

He was a pilot and enjoyed flying in his free time. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Conroy.

Pretz is survived by his wife, Lyn; one son, Larry, Boone; one daughter, Karen King, Ely; two grandchildren, Jacob Pretz, Boone, and Shana Haag, Milton, Ga.; two great-grandchildren, Max and Kingston Haag; two step-daughters, Trisha Thurston and Melody Ewald; a step-granddaughter, Harper Thurston, and one sister, Marlene Miller, Marengo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Loren, and two sisters, Darlene Hacker and Betty Morsted.
