Billy Jo Olson, 68

Billy Jo “Ole” Olson, 68, Marengo, died Friday, July 17, 2015, at Marengo Memorial Hospital. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 24, at the Marengo American Legion. Inurnment will be at the Marengo Cemetery at a later date.

Billy Jo Olson was born Sept. 22, 1948, in Marengo, the son of Bill and Harlene Patterson Olson. He graduated from the Iowa Valley School District. He worked as an end loader operator at Manatt’s in Grinnell. Previously, he worked at Marengo Ready Mix and L&J Fabrication for 10 years.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing poker and video games. He liked to restore old classic cars, work in his vegetable and flower gardens and being with his friends and family.

Olson is survived by one son, Clint, Marengo; one daughter, Jamie Hawker, Ladora, and a brother, Randy Olson, Marengo.

He was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Julie, and his parents.
