Obituary for Thomas McKenna

North English- Thomas Patrick McKenna, was born June 25, 1939, in Kinross, Iowa, the son of Thomas & Edna (Brady) McKenna. He graduated from North English High School in 1958 and later received his Bachelor’s degree in education from Parson College in Fairfield.

Pat was united in marriage to Mary Ann O’Rourke on February 24, 1962, at Armah Church. He taught school at Tri County for 4 years, was an insurance salesman, owned and operated the McKenna Ford Garage in North English and later retired from the housekeeping department at UIHC after 10 years. Pat was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, North English and the Knights of Columbus. He was a former member of the English Valley School Board, North English City Council, the Presidents Club and the Association of Life Underwritters and a 50 year member of the North English Liars Club. He achieved CLU thru his insurance career.

Pat enjoyed going to the casino, the outdoors, spending time with his family and going to school activities.

Pat died on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at his home in North English at the age of 75 years.

He is survived by his wife Mary Ann of North English; a son Marek Mckenna of Durham, NC; a son-in-law Randy Weber (special friend Cindy Albert) of Harper; two grandchildren: Kelsey Weber (fiancé Jay DeWeese) of Deep River & Ryan Weber (fiancé Emily Patterson) of Sigourney; two great grandchildren Ava Weber and Riley Weber; five brothers John (Eleanor) McKenna of Townson MD, Hugh McKenna of Coralville, Daniel McKenna of North English, Neal (Kim) McKenna of Chana, IL and Edward (Kathryn White) McKenna of Colona, IL; and a sister Ellen (Rick) Hines of Naperville, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Karla Weber.

A Memorial Funeral Mass will be held 11:30 AM on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, North English. Fr. Joseph Roost will preside. Burial will be in the North English Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, from 4:00 - 7:00 PM, with a Rosary Service at 4:00 PM at the Powell Funeral Home, North English.
