Williamsburg–Pauline Amalia Stohlmann was born July 18, 1912 near Homestead, Iowa, the daughter of J. Henry and Johanna Mathilda Maas Sandersfeld. She grew up in the Homestead community, and was baptized August 18, 1912 and confirmed March 28, 1926 at St. John’s Lutheran Church near Homestead. Pauline was united in marriage to Clarence H.F. Stohlmann April 4, 1940 at St. John’s Lutheran Church. After their marriage the couple moved to Williamsburg. Pauline was a home maker and helped on the farm with her husband. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Williamsburg where she was very active in the Women’s Guild, 50 years of service in the Altar Guild, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and was in the Fellowship Club. Pauline also volunteered at the Lutheran Interparish School, was a Charter member of the 76ers Garden Club and a member of the Iowa County Historical Society. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, working with crafts, reading and quilting. Pauline died Tuesday, June 22, 2004 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City after a short illness at the age of 91 years. Pauline is survived by two daughters: Lois (David) Werner of Williamsburg and Gloria (Gregory) Misbach of Filer, Idaho; six grandchildren: Paul (Cari) Werner, Brenda Werner, Bethann Werner, Lyle (Andrea) Misbach, Neal Misbach and Kendra Misbach; two great grandchildren: Brady Werner and Logan Misbach ; a sister in law Paula Sandersfeld of Williamsburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1989, two brothers: Ernst and Reinhold Sandersfeld. Celebration of Life Service will be Friday, June 25, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. Pastor Carl Cloeter will officiate. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery near Williamsburg. Visitition will be Thursday from 4:00p.m. to 8:00 p.m. At the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg.
