West Amana

Richard F. 'Dick' Goldsberry, 72, of West Amana, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, conducted by Chaplain Mike Slagenweit-Coffman. The family will greet friends at a luncheon at the funeral home immediately following the service. Burial will follow the luncheon at Mount Clark Cemetery, Central City.

Survivors include wife, Linda Goldsberry of West Amana; mother, Betty [Martin] Goldsberry of Cedar Rapids; children, Jill (Tony) Tabaka of Minneapolis, Kori (Gary) Philipp of Ely, Amy Goldsberry of Ely and Jesse (Andrea) Hankemeier of Walker; siblings, Jim (Connie) Goldsberry of Solon, Don Goldsberry of Hampton and Pam Jacob of Camarillo, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; 11 greatgrandchildren; and his dog, Buddy.

He was preceded in death by his father, Don Goldsberry.

Dick was born Oct. 23, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, son of Donald and Bet­ty Goldsberry. He graduated from Washington High School in 1959. Dick served proudly as a United States Marine and served in the Aleutian Islands and Japan. He married Kathy Procok in 1963; they later divorced. Dick worked as a supervisor at Cryovac, P&H, Goss, was a Johnson County Deputy Sheriff and drove for Philipp Trucking. On Aug. 22, 1992, Dick married Linda Hankemeier in Blairstown. For the last 18 years the couple owned and operated Goldsberry Trucking.

Dick was a member of the Swisher American Legion for over 40 years. Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing with his son and grandsons and playing poker with friends.

Our family would like to give a special thank you to St. Luke's Hospice for the love and comfort you gave our father/husband and our family during his illness. You were a blessing to our family.
