Lynn Harriman, 77

Celebration of life memorial service for Lynn F. Harriman, 77, Ottumwa, formerly of North English, was held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service, North English. He died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center, Des Moines.

The Rev. Luke Caster officiated at the service.

Private family burial will be held at a later date.

A general memorial fund has been established.

Lynn F. Harriman was born Oct. 22, 1936, near North English, the son of Jewell and Zelda (Holland) Harriman. He graduated from North English High School in 1955.

He married Dorothy Lekin July 6, 1957. They later divorced.

He married Doris Possehl Ohlen Dec. 17, 1978, in Marengo. They divorced in 2003.

He farmed for many years. After moving to Marengo he owned and operated Iowa County Livestock Auction. He moved to Bloomfield where he raised and sold horses. He later moved to Ottumwa and operated a pawn shop and auto sales business.

He was a former member of the American Quarter Horse Association. He enjoyed his horses and John Wayne movies.

Harriman is survived by a daughter-in-law, Julie Harriman, North English; a step-daughter, Heidi (Kevin) Durbin, Grinnell; two grandchildren, Trent and Taylor Harriman, North English; two step-grandchildren, Hayes and Hattie Durbin, Grinnell, and a family friend, Jeannie Richardson, Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Terry Harriman.
