Beth Milling, 95

Funeral service for Elizabeth E. “Beth” Milling, 95, Marengo, was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, at First Presbyterian Church, Marengo. She died Monday morning, Dec. 30, 2013, at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo.

The Rev. Diane Miller officiated at the service.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Marengo.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association or Iowa Valley Schools for lights for the baseball field.

Elizabeth Evelyn Milling was born April 13, 1918, in Marengo, the daughter of Charles Clifford and Lyda Amelia Fields Jenkins. She graduated from Carson High School in 1936.

She married Lloyd Alexander Milling June 4, 1939, at the First Presbyterian Church, Marengo. She worked as a clerk for many years at Iowa Electric. She owned and operated the first Maid-Rite in Marengo and later was co-owner of A and B Fashions.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, several church groups and card clubs. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters and had served as president of the Marengo Chamber of Commerce in the past. She was an avid letter writer. She collected stamps and coins and loved to dance. She was very proud of her family and cherished each and every member.

Milling is survived by her children, Margaret “Peggy” (Larry) Gerst, Newhall; Randall “Butch” (Mary Lou) Milling, Atkins; Lida Sue (Fred) Timm, Marengo, and Kimberly (Curtis) Cronbaugh, Belle Plaine; 12 grandchildren, Scott Gerst, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Shelly(Craig) Bruder, Shaftsbury, Vt.; Randall Timm, San Diego, Calif.; Ronald (Laura) Timm, Marengo; Brent (Kathy) Milling, Newhall; Shawn (Janet) Milling, Shellsburg; Stephanie Gerst, Tampa, Fla.; Michele (Jason) Davis, Atkins; Annie (Adam) Rabe, Chad (Ashlea) Cronbaugh and Alexis and Alyssa Rohrer, all Marengo; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson, and nieces and nephews, Bonnie Lindenmayer, Marengo; Kaye (Jim) Scott, Phoenix, Ariz.; Dan Jacobs, Congress, Ariz.; Jim (Doris) Jacobs, Cedar Rapids; Larry Jacobs, Mechanicsville, and David (Marilyn) Jenkins, and Bill Jenkins, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one brother, Cy Jenkins; one sister, Vesper Jacobs, and a grandson, Caleb Cronbaugh.
