Elfrieda Folkmann, 66

Funeral Services for Elfrieda L. Folkmann, 66, Williamsburg, were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Conroy. She died Monday, Nov. 8, 1993, at her home following an extended illness.

The Rev. George H. Clausen officiated at the service.

Burial was in the church cemetery. Casket bearers were David Ficken, Mike Ficken, Philip Wardenburg, Richard Schaefer, Kenny Folkmann and Dean Folkmann.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Conroy, or Hospice of Compassion of Iowa County.

Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg, Was in charge of arrangements.

Elfrieda Louise Folkmann was born Feb. 16, 1927, near Williamsburg, the daughter of William and Mary Steinke Ficken. She attended Immanuel Lutheran School, rural Williamsburg, and graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1944. She later graduated from the Paris Beauty Academy, Cedar Rapids.

She worked as a beautician in Williamsburg until she married Raymond Folkmann May 4, 1947, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. The couple lived on a farm near South Amana until moving into Williamsburg in November 1991.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Trinity Ladies Guild, the adult church choir and the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML).

Folkmann is survived by her husband; one daughter, Susan Roberts, Williamsburg; Keith, Ames, and Randy, Marengo; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four brothers, Carl and Bill Ficken, both Cedar Rapids; Victor Ficken, Tyler, Texas, and Edgar Ficken, Williamsburg; three sisters, Verona Schmidt, Cedar Rapids; Lillian Johnson, Mena, Ark., and Venita Muller, Clarinda, and 41 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
