Marie Noe Larew

Marie Noe Larew, 88, of Kimberling City, Mo., passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013, following a brief illness. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, Kimberling City. The Rev. Kimberly Cunningham will be officiating. Cremation was under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home-South, Kimberling City, Mo. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 6, at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City, Iowa.

Marie was born in Amana, Iowa, on Aug. 21, 1924. She graduated from Amana High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Iowa. She worked as a pharmacist in both Iowa and Missouri.

Marie married Eugene Larew on Aug. 3, 1946. At the time of Gene’s death, they had been married for 39 years. Marie and Gene owned and operated Shadrack Resort in Cape Fair, Mo., from 1969 until 1984. Marie and Gene later established Gene Larew Tackle in Cape Fair. She enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, golfing, walking and entertaining friends and family. As a community-minded woman, Marie was a volunteer for the Table Rock Health Center, the American Cancer Society and a number of other charities. She was a member of P. E. O for over 50 years. Marie was an active member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church serving as an elder and Sunday school teacher.

Marie is survived by her children, Genie Larew of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, Barbara Larew-Adams of Bon Aqua, Tenn. and Ted Larew of Greencastle, Pa.; and her grandchildren, Melanie, Ben, Philip and Bryan.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ida [Hertel] Noe; husband, Eugene; and son, Philip.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Autism Speaks, 1060 State Rd. 2nd Floor, Princeton, NJ 08540; or St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Kimberling City, Mo.
