Funeral service for Florence L. Mumby, 96, Williamsburg, formerly of Marengo, was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, at First Presbyterian Church, Marengo. She died Friday, July 5, 2013, at Highland Ridge Care Center, Williamsburg.

The Rev. Diane Miller officiated at the service.

Burial was in the Marengo Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Marengo, or Highland Ridge Care Center, Williamsburg.

Florence Linda Mumby was born April 8, 1917, in rural Marengo, the daughter of Merritt J. and Luella Whitehill Gates. She graduated from Carson High School, Marengo.

She married Orville Walter Mumby Aug. 3, 1941, at the Presbyterian manse, Marengo. The couple farmed in the area for many years. They moved to Highland Ridge in 2009. He passed away in 2011.

She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, raising chickens, sewing and quilting. She looked forward to the visits from her grandsons. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Marengo, DAR and P.E.O.
Mumby is survived by one son, Larry and Mary, Denver, Iowa; two grandsons, Adam and Lori, Waterloo, and Christopher, Marion.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Elizabeth Jacoby and Alice White.
