Joyce E. Jasper, 77, High Amana, died Thursday, April 4, 2013, at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha.

A memorial service will be held at a later time.

Iowa Cremation, Cedar Rapids, is in charge of arrangements. Messages may be left at www.iowacremation.com.

A memorial fund has been established.

Joyce Elaine Jasper was born Feb. 1, 1936, in Ottumwa, the daughter of Harold and Elberta (Smith) Pilcher.

She married William G. Jasper in December 1955. Together they had a woodworking business, Jasper Furniture, for 20 years.

She enjoyed jigsaw and crossword puzzles, word search, reading, furniture finishing and in her youth, camping and horseback riding.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, and the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, for the staff’s compassion, kindness and excellent care they provided during her illness.

Jasper is survived by one son, William R. Jasper and Catherine Oehl, East Amana, and his children, Holly Jasper, North Liberty; Daniel and Anne Jasper and a great-grandson, Theodore, New York; William O. Jasper, Marengo, and her other son, LaVerne and Kelcy Jasper, Marengo, and his children, BreAnn Jasper, Marengo; RaeLynn Jasper, Marengo, and Mallory Jasper, Marengo; her brothers, Kenneth and Janet Pilcher, Ottumwa, and Robert and Caroline Pilcher, Ottumwa, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, in 2001, and her parents.
