Dorothy Schluter

Funeral service for Dorothy A. Schluter, 76, rural Marengo, was held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Grace Lutheran Church, Blairstown. She died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at her home.

The Rev. David Rempfer officiated at the service.

Burial was in the Koszta Cemetery, rural Marengo.

A memorial fund has been established.

Dorothy Ann Schluter was born Feb. 10, 1936, in Chelsea, the daughter of John Wayne and Cleo Baker Smith.

She married Donald Schluter Aug. 25, 1951, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. She was a wife, mother and homemaker. She later worked in the cafeteria at Amana Refrigeration. In her leisure time, she enjoyed reading and gardening.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Blairstown.

Schluter is survived by her sons, Don Schluter, David Schluter and Dan Schluter, all Marengo; daughters, Darlene Lenoch, Marengo, and Dorene and Ken Wilcox, Marshalltown; three grandchildren, Chelsea and Tom Lenoch, North Liberty; Brian Lenoch, Marengo, and Bradley Wilcox, Ladora; one step-granddaughter, Michelle and Jeff Hawkins, Ladora, and two great-grandchildren, Charlotte Dillion, North Liberty, and Brody Wilcox, Ladora.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one brother, Bruce Smith, and a grandson, Brandon Collins.
