VICTOR -- Pastor Kirk Jaye Muller, 56, of Beaumont, Texas, went to be with the Lord Monday, Dec. 29, 2003.

Kirk was born in Grinnell, Iowa, and raised in Victor. He trusted Christ as Savior at a young age. Kirk was an active member of Victor Baptist Church, participating in the youth and music groups. He was a 1965 graduate of HLV Community High School.

Kirk earned his B.A. in economics from Luther College in 1969. He earned his master's of theology in Old Testament Literature and Exegesis from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1973. He completed all of the course work at Dallas Theological Seminary toward a Doctor of Ministry degree.

Kirk was the current and founding pastor of Grace Community Bible Church in Kountze, Texas. He served as pastor of Cresco Community Chapel in Cresco, Iowa for 10 years and as pastor of Beaumont Bible Church in Beaumont, Texas for six years. He ministered in many other churches in the Southeast Texas area as well as Forest Lawn.

He was a longtime champion of Salvation by Faith Alone in Christ Alone through Grace Alone. He was a beloved camp minister for Scripture Memory Fellowship and was a member of and noted speaker for Grace Evangelical Society.

Kirk was an employee of Forest Lawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home since October 1990 where he served as family service supervisor and sales manager.

Survivors include his loving wife, Sheryl L. Muller; sons, Trent N. Muller and Greg J. Muller, all of Beaumont; parents, Harland and Marion Muller of Williamsburg, formerly of Victor, Iowa; sister, Harleen Sue Bott and husband Michael of Williamsburg; niece, Janelle Roberts and husband Todd; nephews, Justin Bott, Brian DeKeyzer and wife Nicole and Eric DeKeyzer; a great-nephew, Samuel Roberts; sister-in-law, DeAnne Kramer and husband Tim; and father-in-law, Stuart Ramsdell and wife Shirlie.

Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 4, at Smith Funeral Home, Victor, from noon to 8 p.m., with the family present from 3 to 6 p.m. Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Victor Baptist Church, with Dr. Harlan Betz officiating. Services will be conducted in Beaumont today.
