Arletta M. Edmundson, 92, a longtime resident of the Cedar Rapids area, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at Powell Funeral Home in North English. Visitation will be on the same day from 9 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. The Rev. John Tunnicliff will officiate. Interment will be in Sorden Cemetery, rural Webster.

Arletta was born Oct. 18, 1920, near Sigourney, Iowa, the daughter of Virgil H. and Anna (Winegarden) Fridley. She married W. Wayne Edmundson on Feb. 8, 1939. Arletta was a homemaker and worked for a short time in the grocery store in South English. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Marion and United Methodist Women and Rebecca Circle.

Arletta was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She will be greatly missed and remembered with much love.

Arletta is survived by her daughters, Dixie (Leland) Fry of Cedar Rapids and Sheryl Axmear of Castle Rock, Colo.; grandchildren, Kristin and Sara Fry of Cedar Rapids, Ethan and Molly Fry of Marion and Melissa and Nicholas Hill of Castle Rock, Colo.: great-grandchildren, Owen, Emily, Carter and Harper Fry and Olivia and Jacob Hill; a sister, Alberta (Bernard) Volz of Grimes; sisters-in-law, Ethyl Edmundson of Sigourney, Jessie Blaylock of North English and Harriett (Gerald) Denison of Keswick; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and son-in-law, William T. Axmear.

Instead of flowers, memorials may be given to the family.
