Memorial service for George A. Berger, 93, Norway, was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Walford. He died Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at Colonial Manor of Amana, Middle Amana.

The Rev. David Mosher officiated at the service.

Inurnment was at 2 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

A memorial fund has been established.

George Arnold Berger was born April 9, 1919, in South Amana, the son of Arnold Fredrick and Bertha Caroline Graesser Berger. He attended rural Walford schools.

He was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Walford. He loved the outdoors and farming. His faith was strong and he enjoyed working for his church, much of the time without anyone’s knowledge that it was being accomplished. He cherished his family and enjoyed the time he spent with them.

Berger is survived by two sisters, Carolyn Craw, Las Vegas, Nev., and Violet and Charlie Olds, Davenport, along with nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Max and Richard; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn and Joyce Berger, and a brother-in-law, Nelson Craw.
