Beverly J. KiesMIDDLE AMANA — Beverly J. Kies, 93, of Middle Amana, died Tuesday, September 16, 2008, at Colonial Manor in Amana.
Visitation will be at St. Ludmila’s Catholic Church, 215 21st Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Friday, September 26, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 26, 2008, at St. Ludmila’s Catholic Church, 215 21st Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Beverly J. Kies was born on October 28, 1914, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas and Gertrude (Wood) Collentine. She graduated from East Waterloo High School with the class of 1932. Beverly married Roy A. Kies on April 22, 1935 in Waterloo, Iowa; he preceded her in death on October 11, 1979. She retired from the sliced bacon department at Rath Packing Company. Beverly was a member of the National Catholic Society of Foresters. She had the greatest smile and a musical laugh. Beverly celebrated her 75th birthday with a hot air balloon ride. She enjoyed traveling, flowers and playing slots. She also loved to sing, she sang in the choir at St. John’s Catholic Church.
Beverly passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, at the Colonial Manor in Amana from natural causes at the age of 93. She is preceded in death by her husband; a son, Michael H. Kies, a brother, Howard Collentine, and a brother-in-law, Bill Dunbar. Beverly is survived by a son, Thomas L. (Betty) Kies of Waterloo, Iowa; 4 daughters: Mary Ann (Roy) Krickeberg of San Jose, California, Patricia (Richard) Rausenberger of Clinton, Iowa, Kathleen (David) Bowersox of Shueyville, Iowa, and Ginni (Michael Cassidy) Kies of Sacramento, California; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a brother, Berwyn Collentine of Roseville, California and a sister, Virginia Dunbar, of Vista, California.
Serenity Funeral & Cremation Society, Des Moines, is assisting the family with arrangements.
