Harold E. “Texas Jack” Baker, Logansport, Ind., died Sunday, May 8, 2011, in Memorial Hospital. A memorial service will be held June 7.

Kroeger Funeral Home and Cremation Service was in charge of arrangements.

Harold E. Baker was born July 1, 1928, in Kokomo, the son of Richard and Mable Benjamin Baker.

He was a self-employed contractor and traveling musician. He was a 1947 graduate of Logansport High School and was a World war II veteran of the U.S. Navy. He served with the National Guard until 1951.

He played music all of his life. Later in life, his hobby was building remote-controlled airplanes.

Baker is survived by his friend and companion of 29 years, Vonda Netser, Logansport; sons, Ted Baker and wife Lyn, Plainview, Texas, and Mike Baker, Grand Rapids, Mich; grandchildren, Bradley Baker and Zachary Baker, both Plainview, Texas; his extended family, Jeff and Julie Netser and family, Seymour; Steve and Dianna Netser and family, Monticello; Sheila and Bob Wildermuth and Eric; Cindy and Mike Parkevich and family and Brad and Mary Ann and family, all Logansport.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Woodall, and one brother, Truman Baker.
