Reta Fox, 96, Williamsburg, died Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at the English Valley Care Center, North English. Private family services and burial will be held at a later date.

The Rev. Kirk Statler will officiate. Musical selections will include “Amazing Grace,” “In The Garden” and “Precious Lord, Take My Hand.” Soloist will be Coleton Tompkins and organist will be Carol Behounek.

Honorary casket bearers will be Stephen Stonebraker, Spencer Mesick, Cody Tompkins, Patrick Mesick, Austin Grimm and Coleton Tompkins.

A general memorial fund has been established.

Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Williamsburg, is in charge of arrangements. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.

Reta Mary Fox was born Feb. 26, 1915, near North English on the farm, the daughter of Otto Lamont and Hazel Ruth (Kelley) Kutchera. She attended Gritter Creek School, North English High School and Cedar Rapids Business College.

She was briefly married to Walter Grimm.

She married William Fox Aug. 31, 1939, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. She resided in Cedar Rapids, Deep River and in 1977, moved to North English. In 2005, she moved to Highland Ridge Presbyterian Home, Williamsburg.

She helped organize and start the Iowa County Historical Society and was the last remaining charter member of the Iowa Historical Society. She spent numerous hours volunteering and preserving Gritter Creek School. She was a member of the Iowa County Extension, the Millersburg Garden Club and the North English Christian Church. She enjoyed going to elder hostels, sewing, painting, quilting, playing cards, gardening and teaching her grandchildren about gardening and flowers.

Fox is survived by one son and his wife, Richard and Hilda Grimm, North English; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Thomas and Cheryl Grimm, Swanton, Vt.; Gloria and Tim Mesick, Bettendorf; Karla and Barry Lee, Sigourney; John and Dawn Grimm, Cedar Rapids; Michael and Pam Grimm, North English; Brenda and Chris Tompkins, Montezuma, and Kurtis Grimm and Kelly Grimm, both Iowa City; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1981; her parents; one sister, Billie Brower, and one brother, John Kutchera.
