Funeral Services Held On Monday For Peter White

Native of Ireland Came To This Country in 1901; Brother Here Survives

Funeral services were held at St. Mary's Catholic church on Monday morning, Jan 21, for Peter John White, with Rev. J. J. Gaule officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery.

He died at 3:45 a. m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, in Mercy hospital, Cedar Rapids, at the age of 70 years and 10 months. He suffered an attack of pneumonia and was ill for about six days.

Peter John White was born in County Galway, Ireland, on March 30, 1875, the son of John and Mary White. After coming to this country in 1901 he made his home near Marengo for a while, but moved to his home north of Williamsburg 25 years ago.

He never married and his life-time occupation was farming. He was a member of St. Mary's church in Williamsburg.

Survivors are a brother, Andrew, of Williamsburg, and a brother, Michael, and two sisters, Margaret and Mrs. Nellie Murphy, of County Galway, Ireland. A number of cousins, nieces and nephews also survive in Ireland.

Pallbearers were Leo Driscoll, Elmer Jacobs, Dr. J. F. McCabe, Earl O'Neill, Alex Moynihan, and Hjelmer Jelgeson.
