Clifford C. Brown, 86, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Per Clifford’s wishes, there will be no public gathering or memorial service. Private inurnment was held in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home assisted the family.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Dorothy; children, Georgia (David) Hunt of Greeley, Cindy Brown of Cedar Rapids, Jed (Kathy) Brown of Omaha, Neb., Carmel Brown of Cedar Rapids, and Lisa (Scott) Meyer of Williamsburg; brothers, Wayne (Nadine) Brown and Marvin (Evelyn) Brown of Washington, Iowa, and Earl Brown of Marysville, Mo.; and sisters, Bernadine Hutchison of Washington, Iowa, and Charlene Brogan of Round Rock, Texas. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter.
Clifford Clayton Brown was born Nov. 17, 1923, in rural Washington, County, Iowa, the son of Howard and Zenna (Earll) Brown.
He was a veteran of World War II serving in the 8th Army Air Force.
On Nov. 7, 1952, he married Dorothy McMillen in Washington, Iowa.
Cliff owned and operated The Keg bar in Cedar Rapids for over 30 years. He enjoyed playing bridge, crossword puzzles and was an avid reader.
