Emily C. Fels, 95, of Amana, died Monday, July 12, 2010 at her home following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Middle Amana Community Church, Middle Amana, with Elder Tony Berger and the Rev. Dr. Craig Meyers officiating. Burial will be in the Amana Cemetery. Visitation: from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, at the Middle Amana Community Church. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be contributed to Essence of Life Hospice, Camp Courageous of Iowa or the Amana Church Society.

Emily is survived by two daughters, Joyce Fels of Amana, and Sally Meyers (Craig) of San Angelo, Texas; three grandchildren, Travis Meyers (Michelle) of Southaven, Miss., David Meyers of San Angelo, Texas, and Danielle White (Nathan) of Lubbock, Texas; and six great-grandchildren, Troy and Travis Meyers of San Angelo, Texas, Tyler and Riley Meyers of Senatobia, Miss. and Aaron and Destiny Wolfe of Southaven, Miss.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl; her twin sister, Marie Calihan; a sister, Anna Pohlers; a brother, William Weinmann; and a great-granddaughter, Emily Grace.

Emily Catherine Weinmann was born July 25, 1914, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Anton and Caroline Reihmann Weinmann. She married Carl William Fels on May 30, 1936. He died in 1985.

Emily was a homemaker and also was employed at the Amana Woolen Mill. She was a member of the Amana Church Society and the Amana Heritage Society Museum. Emily enjoyed gardening and in her last years she delighted in God’s creation of wildlife that found their way to her windows in search of well-placed jelly and seeds.

Family was foremost in her daily life. Her loving and humble spirit enriched the lives of her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and exemplified her devotion to God.
