Last Rites Are Held For Lorren D. Stahl

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon for Lorren D. Stahl, 34, who was killed instantly in a two-car accident on County R Tuesday forenoon of last week.

Rev. J.M. Steffensen conducted the service at St. Paul’s Methodist Church. Burial was in Pilot Grove cemetery. Pallbearers were Keith Bean, Glenn Fetzer, Carroll Gorsh, Dwight Mumm, Lester Ocheltree and Jerry Slaymaker. Mrs. Glenn Fetzer, Mrs. Carroll Gorsh, Mrs. Dwight Mumm and Mrs. Lester Ocheltree cared for the flowers. Music for the service was provided by Burton Jones, accompanied by Mrs. Brad Furman.

Son of Merlin and Bess Goodman Stahl, he was born Aug. 23, 1930. He was graduated from Williamsburg high school in 1949. He served in the armed forces from Jan. 16, 1952, to Oct. 16, 1953, and was in the Korean conflict.

Lorren was vice president of the Iowa County Farm Bureau, past commander of the VFW, a member of the American Legion and was selected as the Outstanding Young Farmer by the Cedar Rapids Jaycees in 1962. He was a member of St. Paul’s Methodist church.

He was married to Alice Jones June 27, 1954.

Surviving are his wife; his four children, Joan Kay, Janice Renee, Jean Sue and Douglas Lorren; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Stahl; his grandmother, Mrs. Dan Goodman; two sisters, Mrs. Gordon Heitshusen, and Mrs. Thomas Slaymaker of Williamsburg.
