Richard Frederick “Dick” Hall was born on November 19, 1944 in Marengo, Iowa, a son of Orlando D. and Phyllis Janet Torrance Hall II. Dick grew up in Iowa County, graduating from English Valleys High School in North English. He attended Cornell College in Mt Vernon and the University of Iowa. Dick served in the US Army in Vietnam. He was a member of the New Life Fellowship in Keswick and had served with the Keokuk County Jail Ministry since August 1991. He enjoyed reading and was very active in the church. Dick died on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City. He lived 65 years. He is survived by a brother Orlando “Don” (Lynda) Hall of Chicago, IL and two first cousins Judy Hergesheiner of Thousand Oaks, CA and Diane Chase of Burnsville, MN. Dick was preceded in death by his parents. Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English, IA at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, April 28, 2010. Pastor Chester Render will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until service time on Wednesday. Burial will be in the North English Cemetery.
