Mrs. Kathryn B. Jones was born in Washington, Henry County, Iowa, on October 13th, 1869, and passed away June 17th, 1934, at the age of 65 years, 7 months, and 4 days, at her home in Williamsburg. Her parents were John and Louisa Schlarbaumn [sic].

She was married to Hiram E. Newell in 1886, who passed away in 1890. From this marriage there were two children, Mrs. r. H. Wallace, of Fargo, N.D., and Mrs. Leo E. Durr of Williamsburg.

Besides the two daughters, she leaves two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Frye of Van Horn, and Mrs. Carrie Hite of Hartley; and five brothers: Frank Schlarbaum of Mt. Auburn, Chris Schlarbaum of Van Horn; George Schlarbaum of Everly; Will Schlarbaum of Hartley and Elmer Schlarbaum of Van Horn.

In 1893 she married J. F. Blue who died in 1919. They made their home at Van Horne [sic], Iowa. After his death, she lived with her daughter, Mrs. Leo E. Durr of Williamsburg.

On October 15th, 1924, she was united in marriage to Sam P. Jones, and has made her home in Williamsburg ever since.

The funeral services were held Wednesday, a short service at the home at 1:30 and the regular service at 2 o'clock in the Presbyterian church, the service was in charge of the Rev. James B. Hodgson and the Rev. C. W. Cochran, pastor of the Methodist church, for many years the spiritual home of the deceased. The music was furnished by a quartette as follows: Mrs. R. E. Jones, Mrs. James B. Hodgson, O. G. Jones and R. E. Wilson with Mrs. Elmer Pugh at the piano.

The interment was in the Van Horn cemetery beside the body of the husband who died in 1919.
The pallbearers were: Will Menary, George Blythe, A. H. Evans, Al Barker, W. D. Jones, and George Faas.

The deceased lived in Williamsburg for fourteen years, and during this period she early won the highest respect and esteem of the community; she was a woman of most exemplary character, always active in church and community work, and her interest here was always an asset for the general welfare. Her death came as a shock to all who knew her, and her memory will be revered as long as her good name will be mentioned in the circles in which she was so highly appraised.
To the bereaved husband and daughters, the sincerest sympathies are extended.
