Joanne Carol (Webb) Glotfelty was born July 26, 1936, in Batavia, the daughter of Russell and Sarah (Griggs) Webb. She graduated from Batavia High School in 1954. Joanne married Vern H. Glotfelty of Fairfield on April 3, 1954. They lived in rural Fairfield before moving to Marengo in 1959. They moved to rural Victor in 1967 before moving into town in 1972. She was employed at the Marengo Hospital for 13 years and Grinnell Hospital’s Home Health Care Department for 18 years, retiring in 1997.

Joanne was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt and friend, who will be dearly missed by all. She shared a love of traveling with her husband Vern, enjoyed listening to music, bird watching, planting flowers, reading, cooking for her family and UMW. Joanne always put others before herself. Above all, Joanne loved her family, especially family get-togethers. She was an active member of the Victor United Methodist Church where she served on many committees. Joanne was also an active member of the United Methodist Women (UMW) serving many years in leadership and service roles. She attended UMW School of Missions and General Assemblies for more than 20 years. Joanne had a never-ending passion for seeking knowledge.

Joanne is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 55 years, Vern H. Glotfelty; children Deb (Dan) Davis of Ringwood, Oklahoma; the late Mark (Bev) Glotfelty of Marengo; Tammy (Dennis) Hull of Cedar Rapids; Tim (Janet) Glotfelty of Victor; Mike (Teresa) Glotfelty of Huxley; Nathan (Marla) Glotfelty of Kellogg; Chris (Damon) Daniels of Huntsville, Alabama; Jill (Dan) Dreyer of Muscatine; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters; Betty (Harry) Durflinger of Greentop, MO; Patti (Bob) Whitham of Madrid; two brothers, Wyman (Nancy) Webb of Ottumwa and James (Evelyn) Webb of Andover, MN; two sisters-in-law; Mary (Glotfelty) Nelson of Venice, FL and Lavina (Eckmann) Glotfelty of Davenport; several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both parents and son Mark D. Glotfelty in 2001.

Memorials may be directed to the Joanne Glotfelty Memorial Fund.

Visitation: 2 pm to 5 p.m. on Sunday February 14, 2010 at Smith Funeral Home in Victor, Iowa
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Monday February 15, 2010 at The New Covenant-United Methodist Church of Victor, Iowa
Interment: 2:30 p.m., Monday February 15, 2010 at Brethren Cemetery near Libertyville, Iowa
