Thelma Anna (Rathjen) Naughton was born March 3, 1924 in Marengo, Iowa, the daughter of Harry Walter and Laura (Tromerhauser) Rathjen. She attended the Williamsburg Community Schools, and graduated with the class of 1942. Thelma married James F. Naughton on January 1, 1948 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Marengo, Iowa. She worked as a waitress for numerous restaurants in the Williamsburg area and over 30 years at the Colony Village Restaurant on Interstate 80. Thelma was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Williamsburg. She enjoyed gardening and walking, but she found special joy in the interests and achievements of all her children and family. She was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. Thelma Anna (Rathjen) Naughton, age 85, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2010 at the English Valley Care Center in North English, Iowa. Those left to mourn her passing are: Her son Harry Naughton (Sharron) of Marion; two daughters, Judy Joy (Mike) of Denver, CO and Janet Clubb (Delbert) of Williamsburg; six grandchildren, Joe Naughton (Brandi) of Houston, TX, Christopher Naughton of Cedar Rapids, Catherine Woodward (Shawn)of Cedar Rapids, Brandon Clubb (Molly) of Traer, Jacklyn Clubb of Williamsburg, and Tri Joy of Denver, CO; and three great-grandchildren, Calia and Brody Clubb and Hailey Naughton. Also surviving are two brothers, Keith Rathjen (Kathleen) of Dallas, TX and Marvin Rathjen (Beverly) of Naperville, IL; and a sister Evelyn Nelson (Robert) of Muskegon, MI along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James in 1971 and two brothers, Orrin and Orville, and her twin sister Velma Fetzer. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 A.M. Thursday, January 21, 2010, St. Mary’s Catholic Church Fellowship Hall, Williamsburg, Iowa with Fr. Joseph Roost officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Williamsburg. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with a Vigil Service at 7 P.M. Memorials may be contributed to the Alzheimer’s Association or the English Valley Care Center, North English, Iowa.
