Guy James (Jimmy) Allison, was born on May 16, 1940, near North English, IA, the son of Guy M. and Geneva (Lane) Allison. He grew up east of North English and attended Berry Country School. As a youth, Jimmy was active in 4-H. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing and music and always looked forward to camping at the Iowa State Fair. He was a member of the North English United Methodist Church. Jimmy moved into North English along with his mother in 1975. He became a resident of Parkview Manor in Wellman before moving to the English Valley Care Center in North English in December 2009. He died there on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the age of 69 years, 7 months and 28 days. He is survived by a sister Martha (Gene) Cobb of North English, IA and a brother Jerry (Mary) Allison of North English, IA; nieces: Susan Lunberg, Nancy Combs, Debra Potts-Allison and Cindy Cobb; nephews: Lonnie Cobb, Mike Cobb and Jeff Cobb. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew Dennis Allison. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at the North English United Methodist Church with Pastor Ben Wilson officiating. Visitation will be at the Powell Funeral Home in North English on Friday, January 15, 2010 from 4 PM to 7 PM. Burial will be in the Piersol Cemetery, rural North English.
