Wilbur Henry Janss, age 92 of Marengo, died Tuesday September 29, 2009 at Rose Haven Nursing Home following an extended illness. Memorial Service: 10:30 A.M. Saturday, October 3, 2009, Marengo Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness with Mr. George Grothman officiating. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by two brothers Melvin Janss of Keystone and Donald Janss and wife Alice of Belle Plaine. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Robert and two sisters, Ruth Witt and Dorothy Rieck.
Wilbur Henry Janss was born September 7, 1917 in Benton County, Iowa, the son of Henry and Elizabeth Severin Janss. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School. Wilbur was a laborer, and worked at the Bowling Alley in Sterling, CO. He loved the scenery in Colorado and lived there for many years. He also worked at the filling station in Belle Plaine. Wilbur enjoyed assisting the elderly, volunteering to drive them to appointments and run errands. He also enjoyed fishing and visiting with many friends and sharing in Bible education work.
