Patricia Ann Tompkins, age 76 of Marengo, died Friday, May 8, 2009, at Marengo Hospital following an extended illness. Private graveside service will be held at the Marengo Cemetery with Rev. Katie Dawson officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. Monday, May 11 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, with the family being present from 5 to 7 P.M. A memorial fund has been established.
Patricia is survived by her husband Jim; one son Randy (Candi) Tompkins of Marengo; 3 daughters, Wendy Dauenbaugh (Doug) of Marengo, Julie Binstock (Loren) of Marshalltown, and Laura Janss (Ed) of Belle Plaine; six grandchildren, Jessica Jones (Kurt) of Kalona, Emily Pennington (Marc) of Wellman, Christopher Tompkins of Cedar Rapids, Quinten Tompkins (Alisha) of Chicago, IL, and Melissa and Ryan Janss of Belle Plaine; 6 great-grandchildren, Kessa, Justice and Amara Jones, and Jackson, Nora, and Bo Pennington; 1 sister, Betty Oldfield (Dan) of Bloomfield; and 1 brother, Arthur Eastman of Las Vegas, NV. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Patricia Ann Eastman was born January 7, 1933 in Cherokee, Iowa, the daughter of Rev. Arthur and Ruth Butts Eastman. She graduated from Marengo High School in 1951 and married James Tompkins June 10, 1951 at Marengo Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and was a member of PEO, the American Legion Auxiliary, Iowa Holstein Auxiliary, and the Methodist Church in Marengo. She enjoyed bird watching, reading, doing puzzles, playing bridge, and traveling.
Pat was a devoted, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and always put her family first. The overwhelming support and love that she showed through her presence and caring heart will never be forgotten.
