Thomas K. Schwartz, 63, of Marengo, died Sunday, March 29, 2009 at the Marengo Community Hospital following a short battle with cancer.

Private graveside services will be held at the Marengo Cemetery at a later date. The Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa assisted the family.

Survivors include his wife, Joan; Mother, Pauline Kling Schwartz of Marengo; Children, Suz Schwartz (Dee Fritz) of Conrad, Kristine Kelleher (John) of Falcon, Colo., Brian Schwartz (Jami) of Rockwall, Texas, Art Elliott (Sharon) of Clive, Angie Sanders (Kerry) of Cedar Rapids. Chris Fisher (Rebecca) of Marengo, Amy Martinson (Branden) of Ladora, Jennifer Fisher of Marengo and Jean McDowell of Marengo. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Tom was preceded in death by his father Thomas Schwartz and brother Robert Schwartz.

Thomas Karl Schwartz was born May 22, 1945 in Billings, Mont., the son of Thomas & Pauline (Kling) Schwartz. He served an enlistment in the U.S. Air Force. He married Joan Mills on June 16, 1984 in Billings. While in Montana, Tom was employed at Yellowstone Treatment Center. After moving to Iowa, he worked as a Unit Coordinator for REM Iowa.

Tom enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Tom also enjoyed fishing, camping and playing with his grandchildren. Tom loved to make people laugh.

Tom and Joan recently moved to 190 W May St. #A3, Marengo, IA 52301.
