OBITUARY
Mrs. J. R. Gray died at her home in this city on Tuesday, May 26, at two o'clock p.m. aged 59 years and 14 days. Her maiden name was Miss Rebecca Evelyn Lanning, and she was born at Koszta May 12, 1849. On April 18, 1865, she was married to J. R. Gray of that place. Shortly afterward they removed to their farm just west of the cemetery. They resided there for many years then went to Belle Plaine for a shor time, and nineteen years ago they moved to Marengo, which has been their home ever since. Four children were born to them, of whom two died in infancy - Nellie A. and Agnes M. The two that survive are Mrs. Minnie Anderson of Belle Plaine, and Mrs. Fred Eckert of Albia and the husband and father. Early in life she united with the Methodist church and remained a faithful christian throughout life. The funeral services were held at the home in this city, Thursday, May 28, at two o'clock p.m., and the interment was made Friday morning in the Koszta cemetery. Rev. F. B. Tucker conducted the funeral service.
