Theresa M. Martinson, age 100, died Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Highland Ridge Care Center, Williamsburg from complications of advanced age. Funeral Services: 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 10, 2009, St. Timothy Evangelical Lutheran Church, Williamsburg with Rev. Karl Heck officiating. Burial will be in First Lutheran Cemetery, rural Conroy. Friends may call from 8 A.M. to 11 A.M. Friday, at St. Timothy Evangelical Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. A memorial fund has been established.

She is survived by four daughters, Annabell Richardson of La Porte City, Velma Mews (Don) of Williamsburg, Maxine Jeske (George) of Clintonville, WI and Shirley Owens (Hugh) of Homestead; a son Donald Martinson of Marengo; 20 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Pearl Kiesling and Lillian Dochterman, both of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1953, 5 brothers, Herman, John, Hilbert, Paul and one in infancy, two sisters, Alvina Schwarting and Irma Schweitzer, a great-grandson, two son-in-laws, George Richardson and Lester Jeske, and a daughter-in-law, Karen Martinson.

Theresa Marie Caroline Schwarting was born January 30, 1909 in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Herman and Henrietta Eschenburg Schwarting. She attended the rural grade schools and Immanuel Parochial School. Theresa married Martin K. Martinson on August 25, 1933 at the Lutheran parsonage in Norway, Iowa. The couple farmed west of Conroy from 1933 until Martin died in 1953. Theresa moved into Williamsburg in 1970. She was a member of St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church in Williamsburg and the Women’s Guild.
