Hold Services For Mrs. Koehn At Victor
Services for Mrs. Arthur Koehn, 84, Victor, were Thursday, Oct. 27, at 1:30 p.m. in St. James Lutheran church with the Rev. Carl Lueders officiating.

Mrs. Koehn died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 1977 at Montezuma.

Congregational singing for the service were "Asleep in Jesus" and "A Mighty Fortress Is OUr God". Jane McHarg was organist. The Martin Bayers and the Merlin Schmidts arranged flowers.

Casket bearers were Raymond and William Jahlas, jr., Everitt Timm, Lonny and Vernon Koehn and Darrel Cordes. Burial was in the Odd Fellows cemetery, Victor.

The daughter of John and Dorothea Schichting Jahlas, Martha Marie Emma Koehn was born Aug. 23, 1893 at Glaesine, Germany. She was baptized in the Lutheran church there Sept. 22, 1893. IN the spring of 1895 she immigrated to the United States with her parents, three sisters and two brothers, settling in Guernsey.

She attended the Guernsey school and later St. John's Lutheran church school, south of Victor, in Iowa county. Mar. 24, 1907, she was confirmed at the church there by the Rev. Otto Kitzman.

Her marriage to Arthur Koehn took place Jan. 27, 1920 in St. John's Lutheran church. The couple farmed five miles north of Keswick, Iowa county, where they made their home until May 1949 when they moved to Victor.

Mrs. Koehn remained a life-long member of the Lutheran church, transfering her membership from St. John's to Trinity Lutheran church, Millersburg, in 1936 and later to St. James Lutheran, Victor.

Surviving are her husband, two sons, Melvin and Virgil, rural Keswick, Iowa county; two daughters-in-law, Ruth and Marcella, five grandchildren, Mrs. Carmen (Dorothy) Sanders, Maxwell; Donna Koehn, Oskaloosa; Mrs. Mike (Debra) Schultz, Webster; Randy and Kurt Koehn, Keswick; and four great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her eldest son, John, three sisters, Mary Timm, Minnie Fruendt and Freda Cordes and two brothers, John and Williams Jahlas, as well as her parents.
