OBITUARY OF MRS. ADAM HUMMER
Fredericka Mahnk was born in Kittendorf, Germany, December 31st, 1845. At the age of eight she came with her parents to the United States settling in New Jersey. Afterwards she came to Iowa and made her home near Iowa City.

At the age of Nineteen she was married to Adam Hummer. To this union were born six children: Albert and Arthur of Guernsey, Iowa Mrs. Alice Hicks of Corry, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Emma Evans and Vernon Hummer, who reside in the immediate neighborhood, and Frank of the home, all of whom survive, with the father, to mourn the loss of a kind and loving wife and mother.

About February of this year Mrs. Hummer's health began to fail and two weeks ago she began to grow rapidly worse, the end coming Thursday, July 8th, at eleven A.M.

The deceased has been a member of the M.E. church for over thirty years, joining at Hummer Chapel in 1885, and to the end she remained a loyal and faithful Christian.

In the passing of Mrs. Hummer the community mourns the loss of one whose noble qualities and lovable disposition endeared her to a host of friends.

Of a strong character, she impressed her personality upon all who came in contact with her and her memory will ever be cherished and revered by all who were privileged to know her. She was ever ready to minister to those who were needy or in distress, and in the wide circle of her acquantance there was no home darkened by sickness, sorrow or affliction which did not feel the consolation of her presence and sympathy, and at this time many words of appreciation are being spoken by those who have been benefited by her deeds of loving-kindness.

She was the light, cheer and comfort of her home. She was ever willing to sacrifice herself for the good of her family and there was no labor she would not cheerfully undertake for their happiness and well-being. In the home her smile was an inspiration and her thoughts and words were ever directed to a nobler and higher plane. In her every-day life she sought to make herself an ideal character for the imitation of her children.

The burial took place Sunday at the Harrington Cemetery. Rev. Rowe of the Oxford Methodist church conducted the services and preached a very able and impressive sermon, and the choir from that church rendered the beautiful song service.

The large concourse of friends who gathered at her funeral and the numerous and beautiful floral offerings attested the love and esteem in which Mrs. Hummer was held.

To the bereaved husband and family the community extends sincerest sympathy.

Card of Thanks.
We return our sincerest and most heartfelt thanks to all our kind friends and neighbors for the expressions of sympathy and for the many acts of kindness extended to us during our late bereavement.
ADAM HUMMER AND FAMILY.
