Marjorie Ellen Weldon, age 73 of Parnell, died Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at the English Valley Care Center, North English, following a brief illness. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 12, 2008 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Parnell with Fr. Pat Lumsden officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Parnell. Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. Friday, July 11, 2008 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Parnell where there will be a Scripture Service at 7 P.M. Memorials may be contributed to Iowa City Hospice, St. Joseph’s Altar and Rosary Society or St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her husband Harold; her children, Patti Schropp and husband Larry, Greg Weldon, and Paul Weldon and wife Jennifer all of Parnell and Joan Weldon of Kalona; five grandchildren, Sara and Jeremy Schropp of Parnell, Stacie White (Chris) of Sierra Vista, AZ, and Kate and Jacob Weldon of Parnell; and a great-grandchild Logan White of Sierra Vista. Also surviving are three sisters, Mary Quinlan of Oxford, Jane Olson (Keith) of Ramsey, MN, and Elizabeth Harney of New York, NY; 3 sisters-in-law Rita Murphy and Colleen Weldon of Parnell and Anne Harney of Tiffin; and a brother-in-law Clem Weldon (Audrey) of North English. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Jim and John Harney, 5 brothers-in-law, Frank and Dean Weldon, Joe Murphy, Joe Hanson, and Gerald Quinlan and a sister-in-law, Margaret Hanson.

Marjorie Ellen Harney was born August 7, 1934 in Williamsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Anthony H. and Mary Ellen Ford Harney. She graduated from Parnell High School in 1953 and married Harold James Weldon on November 16, 1955 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Holbrook, Iowa. Marjorie was a mother and a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, baking and making doll houses. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Parnell and the Altar and Rosary Society.
