Fern F. Timm, age 98, died Sunday, May 25, 2008 at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo following a brief illness. Funeral Services; 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 31, 2008, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo with Pastor Doug Morton officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. Friday, May 30, 2008 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Memorials may be contributed to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo or the Lutheran Hour.

Fern is survived by her children, Charlotte Blaschke and husband David of Mount Pleasant, TX, Leonard Timm and wife Gwendolyn of Cedar Rapids, and Everett Allen Timm of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Mark (Kathy) Blaschke of Shady Shores, TX, Carol (David) Weaver of Katy, TX, Jana (Bert) Craus of Grapevine, TX, Gary (Dawn) Timm of St. Louis, MO, Linda (Kevin) Hankemeier of Bloomington, IL and Marsha (John) Leibundguth of Chicago, IL; thirteen great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Jasiel Timm of Victor, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Everett in 1989, two sisters, Florence M. Weiss and Mable C. Weiss; and two brothers, Roy O. Weiss and Ralph R. Weiss.

Fern Florence Weiss was born September 19, 1909 in Dayton Township, Iowa County, Iowa, the daughter of Henry George and Charlotte Durr Weiss. She received her education in the Iowa County schools and married Everett John Timm on June 5, 1932. Fern was employed at the Amana Dugout Restaurant, Homestead. She was co-owner-operator with Florence Stanerson of the Home Decorating Center in Marengo for many years. She was a 4-H leader, worked with the Farm Bureau and County Extension Services, was active in ladies organizations, serving in both local and national levels. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marengo where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, and was a member of the church choir. Fern enjoyed playing the marimba, gardening, sewing and needlework. She especially looked forward to spending time with her family and many wonderful friends.
