Robert F. "Bob" Tranberry, age 90, died in his home on Wednesday evening, December 19, 2007, surrounded by his family, following a brief illness. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, December 24, 2007 at Calvary United Methodist Church in Blairstown with Rev. Jena Manchester officiating. Interment will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Blairstown with Graveside Military Rites conducted by the M. J. Kirby American Legion Post #170 of Blairstown. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home in Blairstown from 2 to 5 PM on Sunday. A memorial Fund has been established. Bob was born January 15, 1917 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Christian and Charlotte (Lottie) Tranberry. He was raised most of his school years by his Aunt Rose and Uncle Dutch Coover. Bob graduated from Marengo High School. He served his nation in the US Army and was stationed in India. He was a member of the M. J. Kirby American Legion Post #170 of Blairstown. On May 1, 1938 he married Maxine Shaull in Ladora. She preceded him in death on November 7, 2006. Bob worked with the Me-Too Grocery Stores until 1973. Then in 1974 he started his own Bookkeeping and Tax Service called Benton Business Service and was active in it until his death. He was a member of the Calvery United Methodist Church in Blairstown where he served on many committees and offices. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed golfing with his buddies more than anything else. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Jim Tranberry; his son-in-law, Ronnie Duncalf; his grandson, Nolan Duncalf; and his sister, Mary Simmons He is survived by his daughter, Karen Duncalf of Van horne; his daughter-in-law,, Jan Tranberry of Plymouth, MN; his grandchildren, Darla (Cory) Conway, Brenda (Scott) Barry, Rod (Christine) Duncalf, Jon Tranberry, Jeff (Rachel) Tranberry, Joan (Mike) Flynn, and great grandchildren, Dustin, Derrick, Caitlyn, A. J., Jennifer, Oceana, Caleah, Megan, Trevor and Ryley. The family express their thanks to the Blairstown Ambulance Crew, Dr. Noreuil and his nurse, Amy, and to Susan, Jeanie and Ann of Amenity Hospice. Special thanks to Darla, Brenda, Jennifer and Caitlyn for taking special care of their Grandpa.
