Edward "Ed" Wittenburg, age 81, died Monday, October 9, 2006 at Rose Haven Nursing Home in Marengo where he had been a resident the past three years. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, October 13, 2006 at Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown with Rev. David Rempfer officiating. Interment will be held at Mound Cemetery in Watkins. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home in Blairstown from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday. A Memorial Fund has been established. Ed was born February 24, 1925 near Marengo to William and Jesse (Buch) Wittenburg, Sr.. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Martin's Lutheran Church near Marengo. Ed farmed all of his life in the Blairstown-Marengo area. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Bernice Wittenburg of Blairstown; his nephews, Ray Wittenburg of Blairstown, Andy Wittenburg and wife, Kathy of Florence, OR, and Gary Kuch and wife, Dee of Blairstown; and his nieces, Bonnie Wittenburg and husband, Steve Suppan of Wayzata, MN, and Barb Hayen and husband, Dean of Scotch Grove. His parents; his brother, William Wittenburg, Jr.; and his sister, Beatrice Wittenburg Kuch, preceded him in death. Ed's family wants to express their gratitude to the staff at Rose Haven Nursing Home in Marengo for the wonderful care Ed received.
