Ruth I. Blakesley, age 85, died Sunday, August 19, 2007 at the Marengo Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. Funeral Services: 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 22, 2007, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Rev. Gerald Rife officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at the funeral home. Memorials may be contributed to First Presbyterian Church, Marengo.

She is survived by her son, Dan Blakesley and wife Helen of Rockford, IL; her daughter, Carol Garner and husband Dave of Asheville, N.C.; three grandchildren, Tracy Stake of Marengo, Steve Stake of Asheville, N.C., and Darren Blakesley and wife Sherrie of Rockford, IL; a great grandson, Danny Ray Blakesley; and a half brother, Jesse Greer of Dallas, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hal in 1983, her parents, three brothers, R.L, Bill, and Russell, and two sisters, Ellie Faye, and Sarah.

Ruth I. Greer was born July 27, 1922 in Bagota, TX. She received her education and graduated in Paris, TX. Ruth married Hal Blakesley in 1944 in Texas. The couple moved to Marengo in 1955. Ruth was the office manager of Hogan Brothers, Inc. for many years. She enjoyed quilting, playing bridge, knitting and reading. She also enjoyed cooking and was known for her pot roasts and chop suey. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Marengo
