Beverly J. “Bev” Henny, age 65, of Homestead, died Friday, August 10, 2007, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, following a brief illness. Bev was born April 3, 1942, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Lawrence and Verna (McCalley) McGavish and graduated from Amana High School in 1960. On October 7, 1960 she married Dean Henny at Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy. The couple lived in the Homestead area all their married lives where Bev worked as a waitress and bartender for several restaurants in the Amana area. She enjoyed bowling and cooking. Survivors include her husband: Dean Henny of Homestead; three siblings: Betty Roemig (Charles) of Omaha, Nebraska, Gary McGavish (Sharon) of Sun City, Arizona and Donna Beitz (Bud) of Bettendorf; lots of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two children in infancy: a son: Lonnie Dean and a daughter: Kimberly Jo and son: Dean Wayne. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 13, 2007, at Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg with Pastor Diane Buswell officiating. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in rural Williamsburg. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 12, 2007, at the funeral home. A general memorial fund has been established. Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg is handling the arrangements.
