Bruce D. Kurk, age 52, of South Amana, Iowa, died peacefully Saturday, July 28, 2007, at his home with his family nearby, following a long illness. Private family services will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Rev. Jackie Tjarks officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery.

He is survived by a son, Adam Kurk (Casey) of Grinnell, a daughter, Amy Fontinel (Sion) of Victor, grandchildren Caden, Cole, and Eisac, his parents, Herman and Doris Kurk of South Amana, a brother Randy Kurk of Iowa City and a sister Kathy Kurk of South Amana. In addition he is survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Bruce David Kurk was born May 24, 1955 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Herman and Doris Hunzelman Kurk. He attended the Marengo schools and graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1973. He had extraordinary talent and love of all things electrical and mechanical from an early age. As an adult he took pride in his work as an electrical engineer at Montezuma Manufacturing, Rhinehart Manufacturing, German Machine Works, Street Rod Productions and Victor Manufacturing. He continued to work in his shop at home on his projects during his last two years. Bruce also loved music and played in the band “Foolish Pleasure” in the late 1980’s.

He was a good father, grandfather, husband, son and brother. He took pride in his tough muscular build, but was known as a really good guy who would help anyone.
