Martina “Tina” Milder , age 53, died Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at her home following a four month battle with Glimoblastoma multiform brain cancer. Funeral Services: 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 21, 2007, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Drew Disterhoft officiating. Private family inurnment services will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Iowa City at a later date. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. Friday, July 20, 2007 at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Joseph Milder; three daughters, Melanie Ahrens (Chris) of Parnell, Jolene Slaymaker (Shawn) of Williamsburg and Cassandra Milder of Williamsburg; two sons, Jacob Milder and Philip Milder of Williamsburg; six grandchildren, Erikah Milder, Zackery Milder, Kristopher Brummond, Samantha Slaymaker, Caitlynn Slaymaker, and Shawn “Alex” Slaymaker and three step-grandchildren, Rachel Ahrens, Zachary Ahrens and Lucas Ahrens. In addition she is survived by her mother, Catarina Delgado of Grand Forks, ND and her siblings, Antonia Larson (Terry), Alfredo Martinez and Silvia Espinoza all of Grand Forks, and Esperanza “Bumbee” Grazier (Clark) of Fort Worth, TX. She was preceded in death by her father, Sotoro G. Martinez, her step-father, Solomon Delgado and a nephew Jeremy Larson.

Martina Martinez Milder was born October 1, 1953 in Fort Hancock, TX, the daughter of Sotero and Catarina Sanchez Martinez. Her family moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota where Tina received her education in the North Dakota schools. She worked at the Officers Club where she met Joseph Milder and the couple married on July 9, 1970 in Sisseton, South Dakota. They moved to Florida and their first daughter, Melanie was born on November 19, 1971. Joe was stationed in Alaska at Elmendorf Air Force Base, where Martina worked at the NCO Club for four yeas as a cook. Daughter Jolene was born on July 1, 1974. In 1976 they returned to Grand Forks where Tina was employed at a bowling alley and golf club as a short order cook. In 1979 the family moved to West Branch, Iowa where Tina worked at Oral B in Iowa City for 10 years. During this time she attended Kirkwood Community College where she received an associate degree. Their son, Jacob was born January 11, 1981. They moved to Parnell where they resided for over 25 years. Cassandra was born March 25, 1983. Tina then was employed by McDonalds, where she helped open and manage the store for the next year. Later she worked at ReXam Release as a press operator for ten years. During this time Philip was born December 12, 1985. In 1999, the family relocated one last time to Williamsburg where she was employed by Williamsburg Manufacturing as a welder where she remained until the time of her passing. Tina enjoyed collecting snowmen and spending time at her summer home in Lansing, Iowa. Most of all, she enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. She was a pillar of strength and wisdom and will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
