Edna Isola Faas Teggatz, age 99, died Monday, July 2, 2007 at Highland Ridge Care Center, Williamsburg, following an extended illness. Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Saturday, July 7, 2007, St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Williamsburg with Rev. Karl Heck officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Williamsburg. Friends may call from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M. Friday, July 6, 2007 at St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her son, Myron of Colorado; a daughter, LaVonne Whiting, of Wisconsin; nine grandchildren, Dianna Whiting (Robert Newkirk) of Williamsburg, IA, Deborah Whiting of Florida, Rex Teggatz (Michelle) of Texas, Ross Teggatz (Susan) of Texas, Renee Svedja (Frank) of Colorado, Roxanne McKee (Rodney) of Montezuma, IA, Shauna and Melissa Teggatz of Colorado and Sandler Teggatz of Wisconsin; ten great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence in 1966, a son Loren in 1998, four brothers, Carl, Otto, Floyd, and Wilbur Faas, four sisters, Caroline Collingwood, Emily Collingwood, Bertha Weiss, and Augusta Smith, as well as many dear friends, most recently, Bertha Meyer and Verla Carney, and Charlie.
Edna Isola Faas was born April 24, 1908 on the Charles Faas farm in Iowa County, near Millersburg. She was the daughter of Charles Gottleib Faas and Mathilda Augusta Knipfer Faas. Edna received her education in the Rose Hill School, Pilot Township and St. John’s Lutheran School, rural Victor. She married Clarence John Teggatz on March 5, 1933 at St. John’s Lutheran Parsonage in Victor. The couple farmed in the Conroy area for 5 years, then moved to Williamsburg. Edna was a cook for 25 years in Williamsburg and Iowa City. When she retired, she provided assistance to the elderly who required home health care. She has made her home at the Highland Ridge Care Center, formerly Williamsburg Care Center since 2004. Edna was a member of St. Timothy’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Williamsburg.
Edna’s faith was foremost in her life. Her greatest joys all her life, were her family, cooking for family and friends, and gardening.
Edna’s family deeply appreciates the loving care and affection bestowed upon her by the staff during her stay at Highland Ridge Care Center and all those who visited her. A special thank you to Ted and Vicki Oswald who were good and faithful friends and managed to get Edna to church regularly.
